The agenda features two days of educational sessions\, cutting‑edge research\, practical grazing and forage management insights and cross‑sector conversations linking science\, policy and on‑the‑ground experience. \n\n\n\nClick here to view the draft agenda for the conference. \n\n\n\nRegister here. \n\n\n\nNominate a leader \n\n\n\nThe CFGA is accepting nominations for its 2026 Leadership Award. Established in 2012 to recognize and encourage leadership in the forage and grassland sector\, this award recognizes individuals\, groups or organizations who exemplify or enhance the goals of the CFGA and whose leadership has impact of national and/or international significance.  \n\n\n\nThe deadline for nominations is Oct. 8\, 2026. The recipient may be asked to participate in the CFGA conference with an acceptance speech during the award ceremony.  \n\n\n\nDownload the nomination form \n\n\n\nSubmit an academic poster \n\n\n\nThe CFGA is hosting a scientific poster and infographic showcase in conjunction with the 2026 17th annual CFGA conference\, Nov. 9 to 12\, 2026\, in Calgary\, Alberta.   This showcase provides students and academics at Canadian universities the opportunity to present research they’ve conducted over the past year on forages and grasslands. This is purely an opportunity for students and academics to showcase their work. There is no competition.  The showcase is open to graduate and undergraduate students and academics involved in agriculture\, science or social science with an interest or potential interest in forage and grasslands. The students and academics must have conducted the research or come up with the proposed concept as presented in the poster or infographic.  Students are eligible to submit for 12 months after the month of graduation with the research conducted over the past year on forages and grasslands. Those who have not completed their research are welcome to share their research concept.  Submission details are available here. DESCRIPTION:From Acre to Animal: Maximizing Livestock Nutrition Through Strategic Crop Rotations \n\n\n\nYou asked\, we answered! How can you maximize nutrient production for your livestock? OMAFA’s Laura Scott takes us through typical crop rotations to show how much energy\, protein\, and digestible fibre can be grown per acre. Alternative crop rotations will be presented to grow as much of these nutrients as is realistically possible while optimizing field management – and some of these are really out-of-the-box! \n\n\n\nLaura Scott is the Cropping Systems Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture\, Food & Agribusiness\, where she helps growers navigate complex production systems by creating clear\, effective\, and actionable strategies for on-farm success. Laura earned her degree in Food\, Agriculture & Resource Economics from the University of Guelph. She earned her Certified Crop Advisor (CCA designation) while working for a local retailer\, before joining the ministry in 2022. Outside of work\, Laura helps her family run their purebred Limousin cow‑calf and grain crop operation just outside of Kemptville\, ON. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Forage Focus here. Supporting both farmers and agribusinesses in Eastern Ontario\, A-List Ag Services\, combines more than a decade of ruminant nutrition and agronomy knowledge to provide practical solutions with an aim on improving whole farm profitability potential. \n\n\n\nAshley is a graduate if the University of Guelph and earned her Certified Crop Advisor designation in 2020. Having grown up on a dairy farm\, he has long been interested in cows and what they eat! Forage valorization by ruminants is a subject he is particularly passionate about. He graduated in agronomy from Université Laval in 2018 and has also completed a Master’s degree in animal sciences\, during which he received several distinctions. \n\n\n\nA member of l’Ordre des agronomes du Québec\, Jean-Philippe is known for his popularizing skills and his interest in farm sustainability makes his work with producers very relevant.  During his career\, he has been involved in various applied research projects related to dairy cattle nutrition and forage production. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Forage Focus here.
