SUMMARY:Forage Focus Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:From Acre to Animal: Maximizing Livestock Nutrition Through Strategic Crop Rotations \n\n\n\nYou asked\, we answered! How can you maximize nutrient production for your livestock? OMAFA’s Laura Scott takes us through typical crop rotations to show how much energy\, protein\, and digestible fibre can be grown per acre. Alternative crop rotations will be presented to grow as much of these nutrients as is realistically possible while optimizing field management – and some of these are really out-of-the-box! \n\n\n\nLaura Scott is the Cropping Systems Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture\, Food & Agribusiness\, where she helps growers navigate complex production systems by creating clear\, effective\, and actionable strategies for on-farm success. Laura earned her degree in Food\, Agriculture & Resource Economics from the University of Guelph. She earned her Certified Crop Advisor (CCA designation) while working for a local retailer\, before joining the ministry in 2022. Outside of work\, Laura helps her family run their purebred Limousin cow‑calf and grain crop operation just outside of Kemptville\, ON. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Forage Focus here. SUMMARY:Forage Focus Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Drones & Forage Management \n\n\n\nUsing drones to apply seed and fertilizer has great known potential for forage fields in Ontario\, but what other value can drones provide to forage growers? Field health analysis\, stand counts and inventory management will all be discussed as tools and their value add to farms. \n\n\n\nAshley Knapton CCA-ON owns and operates A-List Ag Services – a full-service agronomy provider that focuses on producing high yielding\, high-quality forages for livestock operations of all shapes and sizes. Supporting both farmers and agribusinesses in Eastern Ontario\, A-List Ag Services\, combines more than a decade of ruminant nutrition and agronomy knowledge to provide practical solutions with an aim on improving whole farm profitability potential. \n\n\n\nAshley is a graduate if the University of Guelph and earned her Certified Crop Advisor designation in 2020. SUMMARY:Forage Focus Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Your Forage Analysis Speaks To You\, Are You Listening? \n\n\n\nEvery forage analysis tells a story about forage quality. In this webinar\, we will explore how to interpret key forage analysis results and translate numbers into practical feeding decisions that can enhance milk production and farm profitability. Learn how to unlock the full value of your homegrown forages by listening to what your analysis is telling you. \n\n\n\nThe Dairy Production Expert in Nutrition & Forage at Lactanet\, Jean-Philippe joined the Innovation and Development team in 2020. Having grown up on a dairy farm\, he has long been interested in cows and what they eat! Forage valorization by ruminants is a subject he is particularly passionate about. He graduated in agronomy from Université Laval in 2018 and has also completed a Master’s degree in animal sciences\, during which he received several distinctions. \n\n\n\nA member of l’Ordre des agronomes du Québec\, Jean-Philippe is known for his popularizing skills and his interest in farm sustainability makes his work with producers very relevant.  During his career\, he has been involved in various applied research projects related to dairy cattle nutrition and forage production. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Forage Focus here.
