The Ontario Forage Council is a non-profit organization devoted specifically to forages. It is comprised of producer associations, commercial companies and other agribusiness interests which share common goals—gathering and disseminating ideas and information, supporting research and development in forages and sponsoring consolidation of forage projects to provide a focus for the efforts of a multitude of personnel.


Profitable Pastures

Held in March of each year

The purpose of the Profitable Pastures conference is to bring fresh ideas and new research results to Ontario grazing managers across the ruminant livestock sectors. These conferences have a major focus on pasture management. Our primary focus is Beef and Sheep producers; however, members of the Dairy and Horse commodities also find the information useful.

Forage Expo

Held in June or July of each year

Come see hay making in motion at Forage Expo! A day of forage equipment and demonstrations with a full trade show gives hay producers and other forage enthusiasts a one-stop shop to learn more about the equipment, products, and services that can benefit their operation. Co-coordinated by the Ontario Forage Council, OMAFA, and Regional Soil and Crop Districts, this event changes location each year, bringing the action closer to you.

Forage Focus

Held in December of each year

The purpose of the Forage Focus conference is to bring fresh ideas and new research results to Ontario forage producers across the ruminant, livestock, and commercial hay sectors. This is an annual conference, held online over three days near the end of each year.

Ontario Grazing Mentorship Program

Events throughout the year

The Ontario Grazing Mentorship Program offers training for producers to gain expertise in rotational grazing. A variety of webinars and in-person events are hosted throughout the year with Ontario Grazing Mentors. Topics have included water systems, developing a grazing plan, paddock design, extended grazing, and more.

The DLF Pasture Award to presented to one sheep farmer and one beef farmer each year to recognize them for doing an outstanding job of pasture management.
